Hey guys I know I haven’t updated about my stretched ears in a while so to give a little update before I start this review, my ears have been at 2g for the past 2 months and I bought these new wooden spirals in a custom size of 1g (7mm) to help them stretch up to a 0g because there has been an empty space between my 2g plugs for a while now and I wanted to fill it before I went crazy from how annoying it was.
I ordered these on August 24th, they were shipped the next day and I received them in the mail on August 29th. So I’m very satisfied with the shipping, it was fast and this store ships items free to the US. In this picture you can see that the wooden spirals were packaged and sent in a bubble wrap lined envelope, there was no damage and my item was still in good condition.
In this picture where they’re out of the packaging, you can see that they were secured inside a taped box.
The wooden spirals were also bubble wrapped and placed inside a small sandwich bag, which I found very thoughtful because it keeps them together I can use it to put them away when I take them out so they won’t get damaged.
Here’s a close up picture of them sitting inside the cardboard box they were placed in and I love the design of the wood, I’m guessing all wooden body jewelry looks different since this is the first pair I’ve ever bought but in my opinion they look very nice and I love the shape of them as well. I’ve gotten a lot of complements on them so far and am now addicted to wooden body jewelry, thanks a lot AJ Starfish for suggesting I try some!
Here is a quick picture of the wooden spirals in my lobes that I took right when I first tried them on, I’ve been wearing them for at least 2 weeks now and am very satisfied with the quality of them. They kind of dry your lobes out since wood is pores, so I’d recommend to oil your lobes with Jojoba or Tea Tree oil once a day or as needed so the wooden jewelry doesn’t get stuck in your lobes or cause any ripping etc.
Also to take care of the wooden spirals I put a tiny drop of oil on my finger and rub it around the body jewelry and then wipe it off. For those of you who don’t know you can’t get wooden body jewelry wet or it will mess them up by swelling up and if they’re in your ears at the time, then you’ll probably be in big trouble so please be careful of that.
Now that I’m done talking about the body jewelry, I want to give a little feedback about the store I bought them from and my experience shopping online with them. Above is a picture of the page where I bought my wooden spirals, the store is an Etsy shop named DewiDesign run by a couple who hand makes organic body jewelry. I loved their products right away when I found them on Etsy and was happy to see that they gave tips for taking care of organic body jewelry on their shop’s page.
What I didn’t like was the fact that they used the wrong term for some of their body jewelry, this whole time you’ll notice that I’ve said that I bought some “Wooden Spirals” from this store but on the page where I bought them you’ll see that they were listed as “1 Gauge(7mm) Rio Gauges, Naturally Organic, Sono Wood, Tribal”
Now I’m not someone who goes off on people when they call body jewelry “gauges”, but in my opinion if you’re trying to run a professional store and sell body jewelry to people with stretched ears you should know that none of the body jewelry that they use are called “gauges” The “gauge” is the size of the body jewelry and all the different styles of body jewelry they use have different names/labels to them because they’re not all the same thing.
I’m NOT trying to bash this shop because I really do love their products, I’m just saying it would be easier for customers looking for something that they sell if they used the right term to label some of their body jewelry. This store seems to mainly focus on selling their “Fake Gauges” as you can see when you visit their shop because I’ve noticed they make more of them than the real spirals that they have listed for sell and that’s fine, but having all those unneeded words to list some simple “Sono Wood Tri-Spirals” just confuses the customer and honestly when I read that I was worried if I was going to be scammed or if the spirals were even “real” like they said they were but thankfully the shop has a good reputation and usually you can trust Etsy shops.
As an example of what I’m trying to say, imagine you’re trying to buy some stiletto heels and you go to a store that says they sell high heels. The store has a lot of great heels but none of them are labeled with what type of heels they are, all the products just say “size 8 high heels” instead of “size 8 Wedges”, “size 6 Platforms” or “size 7 Pumps” etc. Hope that helps everyone understand what I mean because I don’t want to keep ranting, LOL.
Before buying from this store I went onto BodyArtForms to research and see what DewiDesign’s “1 Gauge Rio Gauges” really were and sure enough, I found out right here from all the pictures and what each of them were listed under that the “1 Gauge Rio Gauges” were actually “Tri-Spirals” and I was relived to know that the item I was about to buy was real and not something you’d see on Ebay that was fake and only made to look like it was wood when it was really made of acrylic or imitation wood etc. I’d suggest everyone do some research before purchasing from a small shop because you never know if they’re legit or not.
When it comes right down to it DewiDesigns is a great little shop to buy organic jewelry, mainly if you like “fake gauges” but I’m really hoping that they’ll make more real wooden spiral jewelry in the future because they give great service, prices and shipping. When I asked them if their wooden Tri-Spirals that I bought came in a pair or separately they responded right away, so if you’re unsure of something you want to buy you can have faith in them responding back to any of your questions in a quickly manner.
I’ll definitely be recommending them to people from now on and if you decide to purchase from them too, please let them know that I sent you! I’d like to start doing sponsored reviews or giveaways on my blog for the things I’m interested in, but I can’t get started unless you guys help by sharing my blog posts or mentioning them to a shop if you bought something because of one of my reviews. So please help out if you can and thanks for reading! =D
